Infotecs demonstrates how to secure encrypted live video transmissions while controlling drones over a cellular network as they fly over railroad tracks at the Digital Rail Convention

Berlin, August 24, 2021 - Cyber security and threat intelligence specialist Infotecs will present its ViPNet Security solutions at the Digital Rail Convention in Annaberg-Buchholz from September 7 to 10, 2021.

The use of drones has now proven itself in the field of security and surveillance technology and provides decisive advantages to emergency personnel working on the ground or in the operations control center. Due to advancing technology, drones are now being used in numerous other areas such as building maintenance or disaster response situations. In the railroad industry, drones can be used for rail track flyovers to determine which tracks may be reopened after a storm. The video data recorded by drones is sensitive and critical data that must not fall into unauthorized hands demanding that these data are protected and integrity maintained.

In the presentation "Secure, encrypted live video transmission and control of drones over mobile networks while flying over railroad lines" on September 8 at 2:30 p.m., Infotecs will present how the live video data transmission of drones over the mobile network can be encrypted end-to-end, thereby protected from attacks by cyber criminals or unauthorized persons. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can transmit live video data in encrypted form to a ground station, to the operations control center or directly to the mobile devices of the emergency forces. Due to the low latency of video transmission, the "Beyond visual line of sight" (BVLOS) drone can also be controlled via the mobile network.

"The use of drones in surveillance or for early detection of potential hazardous situations enables completely new possibilities," says Josef Waclaw, CEO of Infotecs GmbH. "With Infotecs' security solutions based on military grade encryption technology, only authorized persons can access the transmitted live video data."

The Digital Rail Convention from September 07 to September 10, 2021 in Annaberg-Buchholz along the test track of the Erzgebirgsbahn enables networking in the field of digitalized mobility. In a unique way, it spans from research and teaching to the development and practical application of innovations in the region for new and innovative rail technologies. In one of the up to 14 workstreams, varied days focusing on the digitalization of the railroad with lively exchange of ideas and applications are expected. The Infotecs team is looking forward to meeting partners, customers and and anyone interested in digital security.
