IT Security in E-Mobility – Infotecs and HARTING at HANNOVER MESSE

Infotecs was presenting its IT security solutions from April 23 to April 27, 2018, at HANNOVER MESSE. At the stand of HARTING Technology Group, the IT security experts presented a secure data exchange solution for e-mobility charging infrastructures. In the MICA.network area, Infotecs also showed a solution for special forces that allows using drones for the video surveillance and intelligence purposes. With the end-to-end encryption technology developed by Infotecs, live videos are transferred from drones via a mobile network to smartphones and tablets of the operation command center or special forces on the ground. Only the authorized personnel can have access to the live videos.

"As a e-charging infrastructure is a critical component of public utilities, it needs to be protected against cyber-attacks", explains Josef Waclaw, CEO of Infotecs GmbH. "In case of a targeted attack on a e-charging station, intruders can manipulate the software of an electric vehicle connected to a charging station via a cable very easy."

Infotecs solutions help protect e-mobility critical infrastructures from unauthorized reading and manipulation of data that can happen during the vehicle charging process. With the military-grade software-defined VPN technology, the data transfer can be protected all the way up to the backend system, i.e. billing providers, and up to the e-vehicle. The security solution has been developed specifically for MICA Edge Computing System by HARTING, which is used to transfer the data from a built-in smart meter of a charging station and charging controller to the Infotecs encryption module. Thus, the data can be securely transferred via mobile networks. Infotecs has been a partner of MICA.network since 2017 and benefits from the many years of HARTING competence in the industry.

With over 5,000 international participants and over 200,000 visitors, HANNOVER MESSE is the world’s leading industrial fair. It takes place every year in the Hannover exhibition center, which is also the largest venue in the world. This year, HARTING participated in the section devoted to partnerships and cooperation and presented various Industry 4.0 applications together with its partners from MICA.network.
